Due to the emergency situation in Latvia, contest "Riga Jazz Stage 2020", which was supposed to take place in Riga on April 2 – 4, has been postponed to 2021.
All purchased tickets for contest concerts on April 2, April 3 and April 4, 2020, are valid for contest concerts on April 8, April 9 and April 10, 2021:
- April 2, 2020, tickets are valid for April 8, 2021;
- April 3, 2020, tickets are valid for April 9, 2021;
- April 4, 2020, tickets are valid for April 10, 2021.
In accordance with the legal doctrine and legislation of the Republic of Latvia, this is force majeure which does not relieve the parties of their obligations, but justifies their non-fulfillment for the time of force majeure.
The Consumer Rights Protection Center (CRPC/PTAC) informs that - unless otherwise agreed by the parties - there is currently no regulatory obligation for organizers to reimburse the cost of tickets for canceled events. However, as soon as the circumstances of force majeure end, organizers must resume the contracts they have concluded.
The CRPC/PTAC, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the industry, has agreed that performances and concerts will be rescheduled as far as possible, and tickets purchased for events will be valid and there will be no refund from the organizers.
If it is not possible to attend contest concerts in 2021, organizers of "Riga Jazz Stage" - foundation "Contemporary music center" - may offer tickets for another equivalent event to attend.
