For the second time in a contest history, in parallel with the vocalists, drummers will compete for the Riga Jazz Stage 2022 prizes, so next year's guest artist, as well as a member of the international jury, will be the nominant of the Grammy Award, the winner of the prestigious Thelonious Monk contest, the American composer, singer and drummer Jamison Ross. He will perform a concert at the end of Riga Jazz Stage 2022, thus revealing his European tour, as well as handing the workshop to the contestants.

The competition will be attended by artists already approved for this year, but ticket sales will be announced again. For tickets purchased so far, the money will be returned.

Next year's contest will include a broader international jury. German jazz producer, director of agency Just Jazz International Catherine Mayer, vice president of Concerts & Touring at Jazz at Lincoln Center Georgina Javor, artistic director of the Venezia Jazz Festival Giuseppe Mormile, artistic director of Nardis Jazz Club in Istanbul Önder Focan, music bookings coordinator at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London Paul Pace, artistic director of Estonian Jazz Time festival Toivo Unt, as well as Jamison Ross and the artistic director of Riga Jazz Stage Māris Briežkalns, will be joined by the legendary American producer, Thelonious Monk competition organizer Jeff Levenson and the experienced Danish composer, saxophonist Benjamin Koppel.

Riga Jazz Stage traditionally takes place in two categories and typically has more than 20 participants from around the world.

Organizers of Riga Jazz Stage express thanks to the event's supporters: Riga City Council, State Culture Capital Foundation, Tele 2, Latvenergo and A & T Trade Music.
