Double bass and electro bass musician, who is active in jazz, improvisation and contemporary rhythmic music in Latvia. Currently, he plays bass at the Latvian Radio Big Band. As well he composes his own music and realized it with projects and musicians like Equanimity Trio, Edgars Cīrulis, Rūdolfs Dankfelds, Kristaps Vanadziņš, Artjoms Sarvi and other. His music intertwines such elements as European jazz sound, Nordic abstinence, energetic interplay and free improvisation. 

Jānis has graduated Riga Dome Choir School and is about to finish Latvian Music Academy Jazz department. He learned from bassists Lynn Seaton (USA) and Taavo Remmel (Estonia). 
At 2010 Jānis represented Latvia at the International Jazz schools’ conference in Hague (IASJ), where he studied from Reggie Workman and Davie Liebman (USA). He took part in recordings of several albums with Maestro Raimonds Pauls, Evilena Protektore, Latvijas Radio Big Band and other.
