The young and ambitious are coming!

“Riga Jazz Stage 2018” received 65 applications from 22 countries – Azerbaijan, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, France, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Russia, South Africa, Syria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine and USA. The jury has started the selection of applicants who will be invited to a concert in Riga.

The contest will take place from 5th till 7th of April at “Splendid Palace” in categories “Jazz Vocal” and “Jazz Bass”.

Contestants’ live performances will be rated by an international Judging Panel including professional musicians, producers and festival organizers from Brazil, China, Estonia, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey and USA.

Each year contest greets yet-to-be jazz stars in the capital of Latvia, and provides an opportunity for young talents to show one’s skills and be presented internationally. The contest invites the audience to witness the spirit of competition, and to enjoy jazz in yet unheard interpretations. 


International Jazz Artist Contest “Riga Jazz Stage” is one of the most prestigious jazz events in Europe, being recognized all over the world. More than 200 participants from 31 countries has already taken a part in the contest since its’ foundation in 2004. Among the previous years laureates are such local artists, as Intars Busulis, Kristīne Prauliņa, Daumants Kalniņš, Matīss Čudars, Dāvis Jurka, Kristaps Vanadziņš, Andris Buiķis and many others.
