Bio

Jacob Hart began playing both a guitar and piano at the age of 7. During high school, Jake was involved with the NY Youth Symphony Composition Program and Conducting Apprenticeship. In 2012, Jake was an ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composers Award finalist. Along with his interests in classical music, he continued playing jazz piano and began studying jazz, first at Florida International University and then at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. He has been mentored by and performed with Brian Lynch, Martin Bejerano, John Hart, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Ira Sullivan. Jake was a finalist in the 2017 Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition. Jake’s trio was also in the finals of the 2017 Zilina International Jazz Contest. In February 2018, one of Jake's recordings was placed in the final round of the 7 Virtual Jazz Club: Global Online Competition for Jazz Musicians. Also, he was selected as a finalist in the 2018 American Jazz Piano Competition. In the summer of 2018, Jake's trio was one of the top finalists in the Conad Jazz Contest.
