Bio

Miriam Ast is an award-winning German jazz singer and composer currently living in London. She was a semi-finalist of the Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition 2017 and won Best Vocalist Award at the Bucharest International Jazz Competition 2017 with her duo. She directs her own jazz quintet and co-leads the Ast/Gutierrez Duo with Spanish pianist Victor Gutierrez with whom she recorded her first duo album and raised more than £5000 in a Kickstarter campaign to support the album’s release.

In 2016, she graduated with an MA with distinction in jazz voice from the Royal Academy of Music, London. Before moving to the UK she did her bachelor studies in jazz singing and saxophone at the conservatory in Mainz, Germany. Miriam is a senior lecturer at Leeds College of Music and teaches students at King’s College London.
